- Clean water pumps pass solids up to 5 mm. Use them for clear or lightly dirty water: emptying pools, ponds and water butts, or draining a flooded floor.
- Dirty water pumps pass solids from 30 to 40 mm, so leaves, grit and sludge in the water won't stop them. Use them for flooding, building sites and ponds with sludge.
- Rain butt pumps take water from a rain butt or tank at enough pressure to run a garden hose.
Most have a float switch, which turns the pump on as the water rises and off once it has been pumped down. Check the flow at the height you need to lift the water to: the flow printed on the box is at zero height.
Sewage, sumps and heavy-duty dewatering
For bigger jobs, our parent company N.J. Power (opens in a new tab), Ireland's trusted water pump supplier since 1989, stocks EBARA and Stairs stainless steel drainage and sewage pumps from 0.25 kW to 2.2 kW, passing solids up to 50 mm. Trade accounts are available for plumbers and contractors.
